Gateway to London sponsors the Havering Business Awards

Rewarding professionalism in east London, Gateway to London sponsored the Marketing Excellence category of the Havering Business Awards (www.haveringbusinessawards.co.uk) this year which culminated in a lively Awards Evening Dinner at the CEME Conference Centre in Rainham on Friday 25 September. Presented by popular comedienne Jo Brand, the awards - which are a talking point for local professionals - were open to all businesses within the London Borough of Havering.

Beating off stiff competition, health and fitness centre Gymophobics Ltd in Romford scooped the Marketing Excellence award with its robust marketing plan aimed at increasing membership. Judges were impressed by Gymophobics' enthusiastic pitch and multi channel approach to marketing incorporating a website, advertising and a magazine. Communicating the message "Hate gyms, love Gymophobics", the leisure company embeds marketing across all areas of the business, with a big emphasis on monitoring the results.

The Havering Business Awards are organised by the London Borough of Havering. At the Awards Evening Dinner John Williams, Chief Executive of Gateway to London presented the Marketing Excellence Award to Gymophobics. He later commented: "It's important to celebrate business excellence in London Thames Gateway and Gymophobics deserves to be recognised because it has made a valuable contribution to Havering's economy, in a short space of time."
