One To Watch: Greenwich Peninsula Poised To Become Business Hub
In June, Greenwich Peninsula celebrated the launch of its first new commercial building in a generation, marking a major milestone in the continued regeneration of both the Peninsula, and London Thames Gateway. The first commercial building - 14 Pier Walk - is now complete and has been leased to Transport for London, bringing up to 1,900 employees a day to the Peninsula.
Designed by Sir Terry Farrell and Partners, the building has been awarded a BREEAM ‘Excellent' rating of over 76 per cent, and is one of the most energy efficient commercial buildings in the UK. The second building in this first phase of development, Mitre Passage, will be 115,000 sq ft and will be built for office and retail lettings, which will be completed at the end of 2009.
The construction of the neighbouring campus of Ravensbourne College - a leading higher education college of design and communications - is also well underway, and is expected to be completed in Autumn 2010. With a community of approximately 1,400 students, Ravensbourne's new campus is set to become a modern, bustling centre for creativity and learning.
Just one tube stop away from Canary Wharf, Greenwich Peninsula is unique in its offer in London, combining sustainability, quality of design, connectivity, a stunning waterfront location, dining outlets and open green space; all alongside the world's most popular entertainment venue, The O2.
