A Word from our Chair
To be appointed chair of such a successful and significant organisation is a huge honour. Gateway to London has a unique capability to make a real difference to the region's economy and has a strong track record of seeking out the London Thames Gateway advantages for businesses and brining in jobs and investment.
Just last month, I was privileged to speak at the launch of Gateway to London's review celebrating six years as the inward investment agency for London Thames Gateway and the securing of the 10,000th job for the region. This demonstrated how key Gateway to London is to the region's economy, one which has gathered such momentum in the last few years.
London Thames Gateway is one of the most exciting and thriving business environments in the world. It is fast becoming a hub for new industries and innovation. And with support from national, regional and local government, I can't imagine a better place for business to thrive.
We are more than aware that there are challenging times ahead with the current state of the financial markets. However this will make Gateway to London's work even more important; our role in supporting businesses and securing further investment in London Thames Gateway will be vital.
I am excited about taking on the chairmanship of Gateway to London and working with the Gateway to London team to build on the enormous contribution that Anthony has made over the past six years. The future of London Thames Gateway is bright, particularly with the growth of new sectors such as creative industries and environmental technologies, and I look forward to facing fresh challenges, realising more opportunities for businesses and achieving new milestones alongside our partners.
