Elyo to Build Sustainable Energy Centre for the Olympic Games
In March a planning application was submitted for a sustainable energy centre for the Olympic Games. The centre will be built by Elyo www.elyo.co.uk - sister company to Axima www.axima-uk.com, which is based in Building 1000, Royals Business Park.
Expected to be built this summer, the centre will be in the west of the Olympic Park and will provide onsite power, heating and cooling during and after the Games. It will use sustainable biomass fuels to generate heat, along with biomass boilers and a CCHP plant to recapture heat generated by the electric generator.
Simon Wright, Olympic Delivery Authority Director of Infrastructure and Utilities, said: "Sustainability runs right through this project and our energy centre plans will ensure the Games deliver the lasting legacy of a sustainable energy supply for this part of east London." The centre will be designed by John McAslan Architects.
