Gateway to London Events

EnviroNet event heralded ‘a success'
On Thursday 29 October Gateway to London and partners hosted the EnviroNet Thames Gateway Business Forum at Jones Lang LaSalle in Canary Wharf, with great success. This was the first event for members of the new EnviroNet business group; a service developed to showcase the region as a location of choice for clean tech firms, to encourage businesses to do business in London Thames Gateway, and to provide a genuine forum for gathering and sharing intelligence.

Presenting to a packed audience, expert speakers provided a valuable insight into the London Thames Gateway market opportunity, giving briefings on the London Sustainable Industries Park, the Thames Gateway Institute for Sustainability and the London Waste and Recycling Fund.

The event was attended by a symbiotic mixture of delegates from local clean technology businesses, higher education institutions, research facilities and the professional services industry. A meeting of minds, the gathering acted as a catalyst to forming new business partnerships and ideas.

John S Glover, Chief Executive, Bywaters, said: "With all the key people here, the EnviroNet Thames Gateway Business Forum has been a real industry 360. Getting the lowdown on the latest strategic thinking and funding and policy developments has also been invaluable to us. Gateway to London is proving to be the go to organisation for the Clean Tech community. "

Those needing bespoke one-to-one advice were catered for at the end of the morning and took advantage of networking with professional advisers Gateway to London, NatWest, Jones Lang LaSalle, Kingsley Napley and Littlejohn.

Feedback from the event has been excellent, and Gateway to London would like to thank their partners, speakers and delegates for a truly enjoyable morning.

Plans for the next two EnviroNet events are underway, EnviroNet members will be kept up to date on developments and people are welcome to register interest in advance. The speakers and format will be announced shortly.

For further information on the event and to download presentations from speakers: Andy Holdcroft, Chief Operating Officer, London Waste & Recycling Board; Mark Bradbury, Deputy Director of Development, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation; Ian Short, Director/Trustee, Thames Gateway Institute for Sustainability, please register as an EnviroNet Member here.

Gateway to London teams up with regional partners at RWM09
Receiving a great deal of interest from companies visiting the show and achieving some notable successes, at this year's Recycling & Waste Management exhibition (RWM09) in Birmingham, Gateway to London left no stone unturned. Exhibiting under the ‘umbrella' Invest Thames Gateway stand to create a single Thames Gateway brand, Gateway to London was flanked by experts from the Department for Communities & Local Government, Invest Essex, Locate in Kent, the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) and Think London.

Relationships with existing contacts from London Thames Gateway companies and environmental trade titles were also reacquainted and new business and media partnerships were developed.

Finishing the show on a high note, the joint Gateway to London/LTGDC seminar at the exhibition entitled: ‘The latest developments in London Thames Gateway - the number one clean tech location' encompassed key messages on the region's fantastic offer for business. Contributing massively to Gateway to London's return on investment in the show; both John Williams and Mark Bradbury of the LTGDC's presentations were well received.
