Alandale's London Docklands Move Fulfils Expansion Plans

Robust. Experienced. Professional. These are all words that can be used to describe building specialist Alandale Logistics This company's joined up approach to logistics has helped it continually secure new contracts, earning it an annual turnover of £23 million.

Leading construction logistics and building fit-out specialist, Alandale started trading in 1999. Today, its clients include: the Australian shopping centre giant Westfield and leading construction companies Bovis, Mace, and Skanska. Its services include; waste, security, carpentry, building, refurbishment, and fire and traffic management.

Alandale has carved a niche for itself as a building ‘One Stop Shop', able to provide all necessary ancillary services to contractors. From the customer's perspective this means that on site, they will have one point of contact for all matters. The company takes pride in its competitively priced quality service, run by an experienced team.

Background
The company wanted to expand but its existing office was at full capacity. It also wanted modern office facilities in a pleasant environment, reflecting the fact that it had stepped up a gear. This would encourage existing staff to stay and act as a magnet for attracting dynamic new professionals to the team. Alandale had a proactive approach to achieving its vision and the office move was to play a leading role in the company's ambitious growth strategy.

Gateway to London's Role
In April 2007, at a time when the UK economy was really going full throttle, Alandale approached Gateway to London with a requirement for property.

The company's move was a result of a seven month consultation with Gateway to London; carried out extensive property consultation work, drawing on its knowledge of properties about to come onto the market and finding an office in a suitably prestigious location. Gateway to London then negotiated the property deal on Alandale's behalf.

Outcome
Alandale purchased its 12,500 sq ft office in Selsdon Way on the Isle of Dogs. The company plans to retain 239 members of staff and increase its workforce by at least 50. Alandale's decision to purchase the site demonstrates its long-term commitment to the vibrant Docklands region.

Benefits of the Selsdon Way office space include first class transport links and neighbouring Canary Wharf's excellent shopping, entertainment facilities and local amenities. Alandale was also confident that visiting clients would be impressed by their modern new abode.

The world their oyster, Alandale staffers plan to take their expansion to the next level through the acquisition of existing businesses in other connected specialist markets as well as pushing its core business. The new office will be integral to its plans as it mean Alandale will be able to employ more quality staff.

With the purchase of the new office property under its belt, Alandale is now working with Gateway to London on a second east London property requirement, building on the company's already bright future.

The Company View
Commenting on the Selsdon Way office, Mike Stocker-Harris, Finance Director, Alandale, said: "The benefits of this location will be instrumental in ensuring we attract the high calibre staff we need to continue our ambitious growth programme. The Selsdon Way site will accommodate surveyor, buying, sales, finance, security, human resource and administration staff. We are extremely grateful to Gateway to London, whose expertise and on-going negotiations undoubtedly ensured we sealed the deal."

As well as looking forward to the new recreational opportunities on offer to them out of office hours, workers also feel generally upbeat and positive about the company's future. Alandale will move into its Selsdon Way property in April.
