Your Guide to Innovation in London Thames Gateway
The information in this guide is the product of partnership working between Gateway to London, the London Development Agency, University of East London and KnowledgeEast, which is itself a consortium of major education centres across the London Thames Gateway region.
London Development Agency (LDA)
The LDA focus on innovation is to support the long-term competitiveness of London's economy by embedding innovation and design practices as key drivers for growth across the business community.
The LDA's Innovation Programme is based around these core activities:
- Raising awareness and providing innovation and design support for businesses to adopt
- Facilitating and brokering access to the knowledge base and the business community in order for knowledge transfer to take place
- Increasing the importance and understanding within business of protection and exploitation of intellectual property
- Providing investment readiness and early stage finance to bring new products to market

KnowledgeEast
This consortium of the eight higher education institutions in London Thames Gateway focuses on arts and design, creative industries, media and communication, environmental technologies, ICT, life sciences, and production and manufacturing.
