Organisations

London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG)

The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) is responsible for the preparation and staging of the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, and the direct liaison with the IOC on the Games. Among the areas for which LOCOG has specific responsibility are sponsorship and marketing, ticket sales, the Opening and Closing and Ceremonies, volunteering and the Torch Relay.

Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA)

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) is the delivery body responsible for ensuring delivery of Olympic venues, infrastructure and legacy for London 2012.

The ODA's main focus will be the development of the Olympic Park but it will also cover all Games infrastructure, including transport.

Other Organisations

Both LOCOG and the ODA report into the Olympic Board, which is made up of representatives of the Games key stakeholders: LOCOG, the British Olympic Association (BOA), the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). All of these organisations will be involved in the lead up to the games as well as helping to deliver the legacy that will regenerate the Lea Valley and London Thames Gateway.

The five London boroughs (Tower Hamlets, Newham, Greenwich, Hackney and Waltham Forest) where the Olympics venues will be located, will also play key roles in preparation over the next four years. Newham, which will be home to 61% of the Olympic park, including the athletic village, the swimming, aquatics, boxing and athletics and hockey, will undoubtedly have the biggest role to play.
