Numerous sector specific business support initiatives are available in London Thames Gateway. This type of support targets a specific sector, for example manufacturing, creative industries or green industries, or businesses with common objectives, for example those looking to export products overseas. 

UK Trade & Investment

UK Trade & Investment is the Government body with lead responsibility for fostering business competitiveness by helping UK firms secure overseas sales and investments. They advise on Government help to exporting businesses: including market research, sales leads, and trade missions overseas. Uk Trade & Investment offers independent, impartial advice and support to existing exporters and those new to international trade. They work closely with the private sector enabling the provision of essential advice on the most effective means of developing British trade and investment in overseas markets.

Manufacturers Advisory Service


The MAS provides practical hands-on support to help businesses become more competitive by:

  • Reducing lead times
  • Improving productivity
  • Reducing space requirements
  • Cutting supply chain costs

London Remade


Existing and start up businesses within the recycling, reprocessing and manufacturing sectors can sign up for one to one mentoring from an experienced business advisor and apply for a loan from the London Remade Loan Fund.

Greenwich University Manufacturers Link


This Project supports manufacturers located in the London boroughs of Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham. The University of Greenwich Manufacturers Link Project is designed to:

  • raise awareness in manufacturing companies of the facilities and services that the University has available, and those of Manufacturers Link Partners
  • assist companies wishing to make use of the University to support their operations
  • facilitate contacts between companies and those academics who may be able to assist them
  • support advisory and other services provided by University experts to particular companies

Greenwich University Creative Link

This Project supports creative industries located in the London boroughs of Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham. Creative Link provides business development opportunities and funds available to strengthen operations. Creative Link can offer support with research and consultancy, delivered by University of Greenwich staff with the specific business expertise to help turn new ideas into practical solutions. Creative Link can help by providing:
  • 2 Days free consultancy on any aspect of your business
  • Up to £12,000 Grant for capital equipment
  • Use of 3-screen VDU system to help articulate virtual design and analyse vast amounts of data
