Leisure Destination

Bars, restaurants, cinemas and world class shopping are all on offer in London Thames Gateway, making it an increasingly popular leisure destination for residents and visitors.

In addition to the region's vibrant town centres, shoppers have a range of options including the renowned Lakeside Centre in Thurrock, one of the UK's largest shopping centres offering a complete range of shops and retail outlets. There is also the new Gallions Reach Shopping Park
in the Royal Docks, with 35 major stores and restaurants, it offers an unrivalled choice of shopping alongside 2,000 free parking spaces. The nearby bus terminal and adjacent DLR station makes it easily accessible.

In the future there will also be
Stratford City, a planned major regional shopping centre alongside 400 new homes and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.

A wide variety of exciting days and nights out are also on offer in London Thames Gateway. Canary Wharf is home to some of London's most famous restaurants offering memorable dining experiences, as well as a stunning outdoor ice rink in winter.

Bars and restaurants jostling for attention include everything from: The Cat and Canary and The Fine Line for drinking, to Italian restaurants, Amerigo Vespucci and Carluccio's, and Asian hotspot, Sri Nam.

Greenwich town centre is a popular destination for tourists and residents, being a World Heritage Site and home to several museums including the world famous National Maritime Museum. It is also home to the Royal Observatory and The Fan Museum London's only museum dedicated to every aspect of fan making, as well as offering dozens of shops and restaurants and a thriving weekend market. Nearby Greenwich Park also offers plenty for families, sports enthusiasts and those who appreciate world class horticulture.

Greenwich is also home to the astounding O2 Arena (formerly the Millennium Dome),which is one of the UK's leading entertainment venues. The O2 contains five main entertainment venues:

  • The O2 Arena
  • IndigO2
  • Vue Cinema
  • The O2 Bubble
  • Matter.
If you dont have tickets to an event, you can still visit Entertainment Avenue, in the heart of the venue, the avenue surrounds the arena and has an impressive variety of restaurants and bars.
